This webinar will discuss basic principles of systems thinking and how the concept of “resilience” can be understood within the systems framework. Opportunities to introduce systems thinking into strategic planning and potentially enhance resilience will be shared. These include approaches for problem diagnosis, stakeholder engagement and action planning. A product of the Coastal Cities at Risk in the Philippines (CCARPH) project, CResT (City Resilience Toolkit: A Compendium of Systems Thinking Activities for Resilience Planning) will then be presented.

This webinar is co-organized by the Coastal Cities at Risk in the Philippines: Investing in Climate & Disaster Resilience (CCARPH), with ADMU Department of Environmental Science, the Ateneo Institute of Sustainability – AIS, and the Ateneo Research Institute of Science and Engineering (ARISE). The City Resilience Toolkit (CResT) is being carried out under the CCARPH project, with the aid of a grant from the International Development Resource Centre (IDRC), Canada, and implemented by the Ateneo de Manila University, in collaboration with the Manila Observatory, Ateneo Innovation Center, and the National Resilience Council. Additional support was provided through the Ateneo Institute of Sustainability. and the Ateneo de Manila University Research Council to the Department of Environmental Science.
