The Climate Change Commission – National Panel of Technical Experts (CCC – NPTE), in partnership with the Oscar M. Lopez Center, held an online forum on August 5, 2020 entitled “Taking Stock: Why Should We Be Concerned about the Climate and Sea Level Changes?” with scientists, government, and the public discussing the current and future state of climate and sea level change in the Philippines.

Dr. Ma. Laurice Jamero, CCARPH scientist and head of Resilience Collaboratory at the Manila Observatory, was among the distinguished panel of scientists and climate experts.

The online forum specifically tackled the hazardous effects of climate change, specifically on sea level rise. The Philippines, being an archipelago, consists of 822 coastal municipalities that are at risk of this phenomenon. 

CCC Secretary Emmanuel M. De Guzman, House Deputy Speaker and Antique Representative Loren Legarda, and House Committee on Climate Change Chair and Bohol 1st District Representative Edgar Chatto also delivered special messages for the viewers.
